About Virginia Beach Middle School

Virginia Beach Middle School traces its origins to a school facility that opened in 1951 near the city's oceanfront. Over the decades the site has served several student populations: it was home to Virginia Beach High School (1952-1966), Virginia Beach Junior High School (1966-1992), and Virginia Beach Middle School from 1992 to the present. The school moved into a newly constructed building on March 29, 2010.

The current campus is located at 600 25th Street in Virginia Beach's Old Beach neighborhood, a short distance from the Atlantic oceanfront. The three-story building was designed with one grade level per floor and includes space for a gifted art program. Its architecture blends Beach Cottage and Craftsman elements to fit the surrounding residential character. The school serves grades 6-8 within Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
