About Princess Anne High School

Princess Anne High School opened in 1954 and is the oldest remaining high school in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It is named after the former Princess Anne County, which was consolidated into the newly formed City of Virginia Beach in 1963. The school's mascot is the Cavalier. On September 1, 1995, a fire destroyed roughly one-third of the building; classes were relocated temporarily and the school reopened in January 1997 after a substantial rebuild, with a re-dedication ceremony held on May 4, 1997.

The school sits along Virginia Beach Boulevard in central Virginia Beach and is one of 11 high schools in Virginia Beach City Public Schools. It is home to an International Baccalaureate (IB) program that serves as its academy offering, alongside Advanced Placement coursework.
