About Larkspur Middle School

Larkspur Middle School opened in November 1994 and serves grades 6-8 within Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Located in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach at 4696 Princess Anne Road, it is among the largest middle schools in the city. The school was designed to implement a "school-within-a-school" model, with each grade level having its own assistant principal and school counselor. Its mascot is the Lion ("Home of the Lions"), with the motto "Something to ROAR about!"

The campus sits in a large-city locale in southeastern Virginia and enrolled roughly 1,488-1,491 students in the 2024-2025 school year. It feeds into the surrounding Kempsville-area attendance zone of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools division.
