About Kempsville Meadows Elementary School

Kempsville Meadows Elementary School is a public school in Virginia Beach City Public Schools, serving grades PK-5 at 736 Edwin Drive in the Larkspur area of the Kempsville borough of Virginia Beach, Virginia. The original school opened in 1959 with 810 students under founding principal Mrs. Josephine Charles. A new facility on the current site was dedicated on August 21, 2002, and opened to students the following September.

The school's mascot is the Lion Cub and its colors are green and white, reflecting that its students feed into Larkspur Middle School, home of the Lions. For the 2024-2025 school year the school enrolled 438 students and employed about 37 full-time-equivalent classroom teachers, and it was Fully Accredited by the Virginia Department of Education for 2025-2026.
