About Hermitage Elementary School

Hermitage Elementary School is a public PK-5 school in the Virginia Beach City Public Schools division, located at 1701 Pleasure House Road in the Bayside area of Virginia Beach. The original school opened in November 1964 on 19 acres donated by the federal government. Most of the original structure was demolished in 2003, and students moved into a newly constructed building in April 2005; the school reports being the first LEED-certified elementary school in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The school serves roughly 550 students and uses the Viking as its mascot, with royal blue and gold as its school colors. It sits in a large-city locale near Pleasure House Road in the northern part of Virginia Beach, within a mixed residential setting close to the Chesapeake Bay side of the city.
