About Brandon Middle School

Brandon Middle School opened in August 1978 as Brandon Junior High School, with Charles A. Atkinson serving as its first principal. In the early 1980s it was among the largest public schools in Virginia, second only to Green Run High School; enrollment moderated as additional middle schools opened across the district. It is part of Virginia Beach City Public Schools and serves grades 6 through 8.

The school is located at 1700 Pope Street in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach (ZIP 23464). Its mascot is the Chargers, and it offers special education, gifted, and English Language Learner programs along with a range of clubs, intramurals, and athletics.
