About Deer Park Elementary School
Deer Park Elementary is a public pre-kindergarten through grade 5 environmental science magnet school in the Newport News City Public Schools division, located at 11541 Jefferson Avenue in central Newport News, Virginia. The school takes its name from the adjacent Deer Park, a multi-use 50-acre park that was once a state game sanctuary for white-tailed deer. Its magnet program organizes learning around the integrating themes of land, water, and air, with a STEM emphasis on discovery and exploration. Deer Park was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2016.
