About Achievable Dream Academy
An Achievable Dream Academy grew out of An Achievable Dream, a public-private partnership founded in 1992 by Newport News businessman Walter Segaloff together with local corporate, civic, education, and military partners. What began as a summer education and tennis program for at-risk third graders expanded into a full elementary school in Newport News City Public Schools, using an extended school day and a 'Social, Academic, and Moral Education' model. The organization has since grown to serve students across multiple schools in Newport News and Virginia Beach.
The Academy is located at 726 16th Street in the Southeast Community (East End) of Newport News, and serves students in grades PK through 5. It operates as part of Newport News City Public Schools and remains fully accredited by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
