About General Stanford Elementary School
General Stanford Elementary School is a public elementary school in Newport News City Public Schools, located at 929 Madison Avenue on the Fort Eustis portion of Joint Base Langley-Eustis. The school opened in 2003 and serves a largely military-connected student body in grades PK through 5. It is named in honor of Major General John Henry Stanford (1938-1998), a highly decorated Army Transportation Corps leader who later became a school administrator and served as superintendent of Seattle Public Schools.
