About David A. Dutrow Elementary School
David A. Dutrow Elementary School opened in 1974 and is part of Newport News City Public Schools. It is named for David Andrew Dutrow (1884-1936), who served as the city's superintendent of schools from 1913 to 1921. The school serves students in grades PK-5 and operates a Global Studies Magnet Program built around inquiry-based learning and world-language study (Spanish or French).
