About Warwick High School

Warwick High School originally opened in 1926 as Morrison High School in the Morrison community and was renamed Warwick High School in 1948. It became part of Newport News Public Schools in 1958 following the consolidation of Warwick County into the city of Newport News. The campus was expanded to its current size in 1968, and in 1971 the student body voted to change the school mascot from the Farmers to the Raiders after students from several closed city high schools were reassigned to Warwick.

The school sits at 51 Copeland Lane in the central part of Newport News, Virginia, on the Peninsula in the Hampton Roads region. It is the oldest of the high schools operated by Newport News City Public Schools and serves students in grades 9-12. A former Senior Center building on campus was remodeled in 2022-2023 and reopened as an Annex housing health science and AP/IB courses.
