About Bethel High School

Bethel High School is a public high school in the northwestern section of Hampton, Virginia, part of Hampton City Public Schools. It was built in 1968 to absorb enrollment overflow from Hampton High School and Kecoughtan High School, and its design closely mirrored Kecoughtan's floor plan. The school and its surrounding area take their name from the community of Bethel and the nearby Civil War Battle of Big Bethel. A branch of the municipal library system, the Bethel Library, opened on the campus in January 1969.

The school sits at 1067 Big Bethel Road in a large-suburban area of Hampton on the Virginia Peninsula. Its teams compete as the Bruins in green and gold. Bethel operates several specialized academy pathways, and its athletics programs have produced multiple state championships in football and track and field as well as several nationally prominent alumni.
