About Tidewater Park Elementary School

Tidewater Park Elementary School was a public elementary school in the Norfolk City Public Schools division, located at 1045 East Brambleton Avenue in the Tidewater Park area near downtown Norfolk, Virginia. In its final years it served students in grades 3-5 and was known as the 'Home of the Eagles.' The Norfolk School Board approved its closure in March 2022 as part of a division 'right-sizing' effort; the school closed in the summer of 2023 and its students were reassigned to Ruffner Academy, which converted from a middle school into a grades 3-8 school beginning in 2023-2024. The former school property was returned to the City of Norfolk.

The school sat in a densely developed, urban part of southeastern Norfolk near the Tidewater Gardens/St. Paul's redevelopment area. As a small neighborhood elementary school it reported a low pupil-teacher ratio in its final operating years. Because the school is now closed, it no longer appears in the Virginia School Quality Profiles or the current Norfolk City Public Schools school directory.
