About Blair Middle School

Blair Middle School occupies a historic three-story brick building with limestone trim and Beaux Arts styling at 730 Spotswood Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia. Built in 1922 to a design by the local architectural firm of Calrow, Wrenn, and Tazewell, it was the first junior high school constructed by the Norfolk city school administration. The school is named for James Blair, one of the founders of the College of William and Mary. The building was converted to a middle school in the 1980s and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 2000.

The school sits in the Spotswood Avenue area of Norfolk, near the Colley Avenue and Ghent sections of the city, and is part of Norfolk City Public Schools. It serves grades 6 through 8 and its athletic teams are known as the Clippers.
