About Tarrallton Elementary School
Tarrallton Elementary School opened in 1964 in the Tarrallton neighborhood of Norfolk, Virginia, initially serving grades one through six and planned for a maximum capacity of roughly 600 students. It is part of Norfolk City Public Schools and today serves students in pre-kindergarten through grade five at 2080 Tarrallton Drive.
The school sits in a residential area of northeastern Norfolk near the region's naval installations, and it serves a substantial military-connected student population. In 2018 Tarrallton was designated a Purple Star school by the Virginia Department of Education, a recognition given to schools that address the needs of military-connected students and families. The school offers a Gifted and Talented program and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014.
