About Lake Taylor High School

Lake Taylor High School is a public high school in the Norfolk City Public Schools division, located at 1384 Kempsville Road in the eastern part of Norfolk, Virginia, on grounds adjacent to Lake Taylor. It opened on September 5, 1967 and was dedicated on February 11, 1968. The distinctive four-story building was noted at the time for features including a rooftop observation deck, two student cafeterias, a college-sized gymnasium, and what was then the first elevator in a Norfolk public school. Andrew T. Leidy served as the first principal.

The school's teams compete as the Titans in crimson, cream, and royal blue, and the campus houses an NJROTC-based program known as the Academy of Leadership and Military Science. Lake Taylor's football program has been among the most successful in the region, winning multiple VHSL state championships; its 2012 title was the first football state championship for a Norfolk public high school in 46 years.
