About Warhill High School
Warhill High School is the third comprehensive high school in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools division. The 588-acre Warhill tract was purchased for public use in 1996, construction began in 2005, and the 243,000-square-foot school opened to students in 2007 to relieve overcrowding at Jamestown and Lafayette high schools. The campus name derives from a June 26, 1781 Revolutionary War skirmish (the Battle of Green Spring/Spencer's Ordinary) fought nearby between British forces under Lord Cornwallis and Allied forces associated with the Marquis de Lafayette.
The school sits at 4615 Opportunity Way in the Lightfoot area of James City County, northwest of the city of Williamsburg, in a small-suburban setting. It serves grades 9-12 and includes a technology specialty center. Athletic teams, the Lions, compete in the Virginia High School League's Bay Rivers District.
