About Lafayette High School
Lafayette High School opened in 1973 in James City County, Virginia, just outside the city limits of Williamsburg. For decades it served as the sole high school for James City County and the City of Williamsburg. In 1997, roughly half of its student body (all but rising seniors) transferred to the newly opened Jamestown High School, and further redistricting followed when Warhill High School opened in 2007.
The school sits on Longhill Road in a suburban area of James City County. It is one of three comprehensive high schools in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools division and competes in the Virginia High School League's Bay Rivers District (Region A).
