About J. Blaine Blayton Elementary School
J. Blaine Blayton Elementary School opened in September 2010 as the ninth elementary school in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools division and was formally dedicated on October 2, 2010. It is named in honor of Dr. J. Blaine Blayton, an African American physician and civic leader from the Grove community of James City County who was a longtime supporter of public education and the first African American to serve on the James City County school board.
The school is located at 800 Jolly Pond Road in a small-suburb setting northwest of central Williamsburg, Virginia. It serves students in grades PK/K through 5 as part of the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools division, which also serves the City of Williamsburg and James City County.
