About Hickory High School
Hickory High School is a public high school in the Hickory area of southern Chesapeake, Virginia, operated by Chesapeake City Public Schools. It opened in 1996, and was built in part to relieve overcrowding at other Chesapeake high schools; Grassfield High School was later constructed nearby to accommodate continued growth in the area.
Located at 1996 Hawk Boulevard, the school serves grades 9-12 in a largely rural-fringe/suburban part of the city near the North Carolina line. Its teams compete as the Hawks in teal, grey, black, and white, and the school has produced several notable graduates including MLB All-Star David Wright.
