About G.A. Treakle Elementary School
G.A. Treakle Elementary School opened in 1962 as the last school built by the former Norfolk County Public Schools system before Norfolk County merged with the City of South Norfolk to form the City of Chesapeake. It is named for Guerdon Allyn Treakle, who served on the Norfolk County Board of Supervisors and later as a mayor in the area. The school operates under the motto 'Together Excellence Soars' (TES).
