About Cedar Road Elementary School
Cedar Road Elementary School opened in September 1996 as a $10 million, roughly 93,577-square-foot brick building serving kindergarten through fifth grade in Chesapeake, Virginia. Students selected blue, green, and silver as the school colors and the dolphin as the mascot, adopting the motto "Catch the Wave to the Future." The building was designed in a Y-shaped layout and included specialized facilities, including accommodations for blind and visually impaired students. Its founding principal was Colleen C. Fox.
The school sits at 1605 Cedar Road in the Great Bridge area of southern Chesapeake and is part of Chesapeake City Public Schools. It serves grades PK-5 with an enrollment of 988 students as of the 2024-2025 school year and was Fully Accredited by the Virginia Department of Education for 2025-2026.
