About Grassfield High School
Grassfield High School is a public high school in Chesapeake, Virginia, operated by Chesapeake City Public Schools. The Chesapeake school board approved construction in the mid-2000s, budgeting roughly $63.6 million, and the school opened in 2007 to relieve overcrowding at other city high schools. It sits on a large campus at 2007 Grizzly Trail in the southern, more rural section of Chesapeake and houses a Governor's STEM Academy program.
The school serves grades 9 through 12 and its teams, the Grizzlies, compete in the Virginia High School League. Since opening it has grown into one of the larger high schools in the division, with enrollment above 2,300 students.
