About Deep Creek Middle School

Deep Creek Middle School is a public school in the Chesapeake City Public Schools division, serving students in grades 6 through 8 at 1955 Deal Drive in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake, Virginia. The Deep Creek community traces its origins to a colonial-era settlement known as Smith's Creek in the 1660s within the former Norfolk County, and was renamed Deep Creek by the 1760s; the first public school in Deep Creek was built by Norfolk County in 1845. In 1963 the area's schools became part of the newly formed Chesapeake school system, created through the merger of Norfolk County and the City of South Norfolk.

The school sits in the southwestern part of Chesapeake, an area classified by the U.S. Department of Education as a large-city locale. For 2024-2025 it enrolled 764 students and was rated Fully Accredited by the Virginia Department of Education for 2025-2026. The student body is roughly evenly split among White, Black, and Hispanic students, with about 41% classified as economically disadvantaged.
