About Truitt Intermediate School

Truitt Intermediate School occupies a historic building at 1100 Holly Avenue in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake, Virginia. The structure was originally built in 1929-1930 as South Norfolk High School. It was later named for Dorothy Truitt and operated for years as Truitt Junior High School before being reorganized; since April 2014 it has served as Truitt Intermediate School.

Part of Chesapeake City Public Schools, the school serves students in grades 3 through 5. It sits within the South Norfolk Historic District, an early-20th-century residential and civic area adjacent to a public park in the eastern part of the city.
