About Nansemond River High School
Nansemond River High School is a public secondary school in Suffolk, Virginia, that opened in September 1990. It was one of two comprehensive high schools (along with Lakeland High School) built to replace four smaller high schools when Suffolk consolidated its school facilities. Initial enrollment was roughly 1,700 students and peaked near 2,000 around 2003 before declining after rezoning that followed the 2004 opening of King's Fork High School.
The school sits at 3301 Nansemond Parkway and serves the northeastern portion of the city of Suffolk. It is part of Suffolk City Public Schools and competes athletically as the Warriors in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 5A Southeastern District.
