About Lakeland High School
Lakeland High School opened in September 1990 as a consolidation of four former Suffolk-area high schools: John F. Kennedy, Forest Glen, John Yeates, and Suffolk High School. It began with roughly 1,800 students and grew to nearly 2,600 by 2003 before the 2004 opening of King's Fork High School relieved crowding. The school's teams are known as the Cavaliers, wearing Columbia blue, navy blue, and white.
The school sits at 214 Kenyon Road in Suffolk, Virginia, part of the Suffolk City Public Schools division in the Hampton Roads region. NCES classifies its setting as rural fringe. It serves grades 9-12 and offers Advanced Placement courses and Project Lead The Way programming, including a biomedical sciences pathway.
