About John Yeates Middle School

The school's name honors John Yeates, an early Suffolk-area landowner who, before his death, provided for free schooling in the community. By his will dated September 18, 1781, Yeates left property to support two free schools he had established on either side of Bennetts Creek, and the present-day school carries forward his name and educational legacy.
