About Grafton High School

Grafton High School opened on September 3, 1996, in the Grafton area of York County, Virginia. It shares a single facility with Grafton Middle School — described as the only shared high school/middle school complex of its type in the Hampton Roads area and the largest building in York County at the time of its construction. An electrical fire in February 2020 closed the building for the remainder of that spring, with classes temporarily relocated to other York County schools.

The school sits along Grafton Drive in an unincorporated, suburban section of York County between Yorktown and Newport News. It serves grades 9-12 as part of York County Public Schools and competes athletically in the Virginia High School League's Bay Rivers District.
