The Driver Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places, listed in 1995. It joined the Virginia Landmarks Register in 1992. About 15 acres and 20 contributing buildings make up the district. The village was first known as Persimmon Orchard. It grew up around a railroad depot dating to around 1890. The buildings date from the early 1800s through the 1930s.
