About Windsor High School

Windsor High School is one of two public high schools in Isle of Wight County Public Schools, serving the southern end of the county from its campus at 24 Church Street in the Town of Windsor. The current building was constructed in 1994 as a roughly 105,000-square-foot facility designed for about 825 students; the school is known locally as "The Castle," and its teams compete as the Dukes in royal blue and gold. Dawn Carroll became principal on July 1, 2022.

Today Windsor High enrolls about 500 students in grades 9-12 and is fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education for 2025-2026. It is fed by Georgie D. Tyler Middle School, which in turn draws from Windsor and Carrsville elementary schools. Coursework includes Advanced Placement classes offered on campus and through Virtual Virginia, dual-enrollment credit for core and career and technical education courses, and a broad slate of Virginia High School League athletics and activities, including theatre, forensics, and academic bowl.
