Homes and land

A few older homes date back to the 1700s and 1800s. Waterfront homes sit on the rivers and their creeks. Many listings are land, from building lots to farms. On a rural lot, ask whether the home uses a private well and septic system. On the water, check the flood zone before you make an offer.

County records

Gloucester is a county, not an independent city. The county assesses homes and sets the real estate tax rate with its yearly budget. Deeds are recorded by the Gloucester County Circuit Court Clerk. The county offices sit on Main Street in the courthouse village.
